About Us

Compass Care Homes Ltd was established in 1997 with South Park opening in 1998 originally to provide support for 3 people with learning disabilities. In the year 2000 the home was extended and now provides accommodation and support for 10 people.

Home Manager Julie Hillam has a wealth of experience with over 30 years of supporting adults with learning disabilities in various settings including residential, respite, floating outreach and supported living services.

Julie Says " I have been able to gain good working relationships with clients, their families and other care professionals.  Having worked in a range of services throughout my career.  It has enabled me to appreciate the benefits and needs whilst understanding the importance for clients to be supported either in a residential care setting or to continue living in their own home and maintain their independence".

We are Dementia Friends

Picture

Compass Care Homes is supporting Dementia Friends, an Alzheimer’s Society initiative, to help people develop an understanding of dementia and turn it into action to support customers and employees who are affected by the condition.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition. By becoming a Dementia Friend staff at Compass Care  will find out the little things that they can do to help people affected by dementia.

Everyday tasks that we often take for granted can be daunting for people living with dementia.  They often avoid shopping or visiting public places as they can feel anxious about the situations that they might face. To help, we are encouraging all of our staff to become Dementia Friends to ensure that we’re able to provide understanding and help to those affected by the condition. A little patience and kindness can go a long way.

Things to consider about us....

  • South Park is close to the town centre and has excellent transport links (buses and trains). We have very good local amenities whilst enjoying immediate access to Greenhead Park. With the array of activities that are held in the park, we enjoy many summertime activities from summer fetes to regular circus that visits. We even have front row seats to the fantastic fireworks displays!

  • We have good access to local medical support. Where we can, we like to keep your existing GP's if distance allows. Otherwise we will approach a more local GP on your behalf.

  • Our Management team and staff are carefully selected and trained. Our staff work as a team and it comprises of a mix of skills and ages.
